2. Demon Mask. 19th or early 20th Century from the Middle Hills of Nepal. 10" long. A fine Tamang mask of a long toothed rakshasas, or demon, in heavy dark wood with a very good patina. Used in village dances, a mask of this quality was probably owned by a professional theatrical group that would travel from place to place. There is an old crack through the left eye. $975.
