9. Antique Mala with Thogchags. Tibet, 19th century. 17 1/2" (44.45 cm) long, 108 disk beads, including 3 carnelion beads. The thogchags (a supernatural amulet fallen from the sky)is 1" in diameter and dates from the early Buddhist period (12th - 13th century). It is in the shape of a torma mold -- for making small offering cakes. The counters are repousee copper and other decorations are: turquoise, red ceramic beads (to look like coral) shell beads and the tag of a zipper. $450.
